The full name is Eka Wahyu Hestya Budianto. He was born in Jember on August 8, 1989. His educational background began as a student at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor, Ponorogo, from which he graduated in 2008. He then pursued his undergraduate studies (S1) and earned the degree Licence (Lc.) at the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Department of Islamic Sharia, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt, graduating in 2015. Subsequently, he completed his postgraduate studies (S2) and obtained a Master of Science (M.Si.) degree at the Faculty of PS-KTTI, specializing in Islamic Economics and Finance, University of Indonesia (UI), Jakarta, in 2018.
Currently, the author serves as a Permanent Civil Servant Lecturer at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Malang, Faculty of Economics, in the field of Islamic Economics and Finance. He also holds the positions of Director of Bait Syariah Indonesia and CEO of Afanin Group. In the field of writing and organizational activities, he has been actively involved as a member of the Nun Center research group, contributor to the Informatics Bulletin of ICMI Orsat Cairo (2010–2011), Editor-in-Chief of La Tansa Magazine (IKPM Cairo, 2011–2012), Secretary and Research & Development Council of the Indonesian Student Library in Cairo (PMIK Cairo, 2010–2015), Director of BMT PAKEIS ICMI (2013–2014), General Secretary of IKPM Cairo (2010–2011), Treasurer of PPMI Egypt (2012–2013), and Secretary of Wisma Nusantara Cairo (2012–2014).
In terms of scholarly training (talaqqi), whether through long-term study or brief sessions, he has learned from many scholars both in Indonesia and abroad. During his time at Gontor, he studied under prominent kyai and teachers, including KH. Dr. Abdullah Syukri Zarkasyi, KH. Hasan Abdullah Sahal, Prof. Dr. Amal Fathullah (Rector of UNIDA), Prof. Hamid Fahmi, Ph.D. (Director of INSIST, Birmingham University), H. Syarif Abadi, and H. Akrim Mariyat, Dipl.A.Ed. (Manchester University), among others. While studying at Al-Azhar University, Cairo, both in classrooms and in the study circles (ruwaq) of Al-Azhar Mosque, he benefited from the knowledge of renowned scholars, such as: (1) In theology, philosophy, and kalam: Sheikh Prof. Dr. Ahmad Thayyib (Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar); (2) In Arabic linguistics: Sheikh Prof. Dr. Fathiy Al-Hijazi; (3) In jurisprudence and its principles: Sheikh Prof. Dr. Ali Jum‘ah Muhammad, Prof. Dr. Sa‘duddin Al-Hilali, and Sheikh Hisyam Kamil. (4) In hadith and its sciences: Sheikh Prof. Dr. Nuruddin Al-‘Itr, Prof. Dr. Yusri Rusydi Al-Hasani, and Prof. Dr. Usamah Sayyid Al-Azhari.
During his postgraduate studies at the University of Indonesia (UI), Jakarta, he also studied under many professors and experts, including Prof. Dr. Uswatun Hasanah (UI), Prof. Dr. Amany Lubis (UIN Jakarta), Prof. Dr. Didin Hafidhuddin (UIKA & Indonesian Zakat Expert), Prof. Dr. Nurul Huda (Islamic Economics Scholar), KH. Cholil Nafis, Ph.D. (Chairman of MUI), Hendri Tanjung, Ph.D. (BWI), Dr. Rizqullah (Commissioner of BNI Syariah), Mohamad Soleh Nurzaman, Ph.D. (PUSKAS BAZNAS), and others.
